You don't notice it when it happens.
Only when it repeats.
In some interactions, you move toward.
In others, you keep things stable.
And in some, you adjust yourself
so the interaction can continue.
Most people don't track this.
They track how things feel.
Not what they do to stay connected.
A 2-week study.
Under a minute a day.
Just to see what repeats.
By day 4 or 5, something becomes clear.
Not all at once.
But enough that you start to recognise it
while it's happening.
By the end, something will have repeated
enough that you can't not see it.
This tends to land with people who
carry responsibility,
keep things moving,
rarely drop the thread —
and have a sense that something is off,
but not where.
It's simple.
But it tends to show something quite clearly.
